Located near the western boundary of Fort Bragg, Sandy Grove Presbyterian Church is one of the oldest buildings on post. Prior to establishment of Camp Bragg in 1918, the area contained several communities of primarily Scottish Highlander immigrants which had been established as far back as the 18th century. Sandy Grove Church was built to serve communities in Quewhiffle Township, formerly in Cumberland County, but now in Hoke County. The building was constructed in 1854 by local builder and church member Peter Monroe, who is buried here. It was originally built in the Greek Revival Style, but a 1917 renovation changed the facade to Gothic Revival. Though the congregation moved to other quarters after the Army acquired the land, the cemetery was used until the 1970s for interments of members of the old congregation, and a homecoming is held every year for descendants of the original members.
