Agnes Marie Vik, 91, of Puget Island, died Nov. 29. 2002, at a Cathlamet care center. She was born Dec. 30, 1910 on Puget Island to Marcus and Anna Nergaard Gilbertson.

She graduated from Westport, OR, High School, then went to nursing school graduating from Emmanuel Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She worked at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria for several years before moving back to Puget Island. In the 1950s she worked for Dr. Fritz for several years, and in 1958 she began her 23 years career at Columbia View Care Center, retiring in 1981. She was a livelong member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, American Lutheran Church Women, and the American Nurses Association. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and playing the piano, enjoyed family, and taking trips to Alaska and Norway with her husband.

On Dec. 27, 1939, on Puget Island, she married Britanus Vik, who died in June 1992. Deceased is a sister, Johanna Gilbertsen, in 1987; and a granddaughter, Morgan Vik, in 1977.

Surviving are four sons, Bruce Vik of Seattle, and Gilbert Vik, Terry Vik, and Mark Vik of Puget Island; 3 grandchildren; and a cousin.

Services will be at 2 pm Monday at her church.
