November 9, 1923 - March 4, 2014
Age 90, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2014, in her home in Corona, CA, surrounded by her family. She was born in Manzanar, California and grew up on the family ranch in Chino, CA. She and her husband Robert "Bob" Kampling were successful local business owners and very active in Corona city politics and local organizations. They enjoyed their free time and traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad with many of their friends and family. Some of her fondest memories were the tropical island vacations she and Bob shared in the Caribbean, Hawaii and Tahiti. They also enjoyed sharing their vacation homes at Mission Bay and later Monarch Beach, in addition to many motor home trips with those adventurous Corona friends. Leona was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob and her siblings Lucille, Minnie, Herb, Carl, Marge, and Richard. She continued as an active member of the Woman's Improvement Club of Corona, the Navy League, the Corona Boat and Ski Club, the Red Hats and her "dirty dozen" girlfriends. Leona leaves three daughters, two sons-in-law and one grandchild: Dianna & Paul Scholberg, Barbara & son Jesse Lambert and Jeanette & Steve West. Our family would like to thank all those who provided loving care for Leona, with special thanks to Maria, Celia and Myla. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Thomas Miller Mortuary. Memorial donations to the Woman's Improvement Club of Corona will graciously be accepted at P.O. Box 188, Corona, CA 92878. Published in Press-Enterprise on Mar. 9, 2014.
