JACOB AND MARIA VERONICA KUCH
Oliver County 1885-1985; Page 797
Jacob Kuch was born on March 27, 1872, at Brienne, Besserabia, South Russia, a son of George A. Kuch and Elizabeth nee Bahnmuller.

Maria Veronica Leupp was born on December 4, 1878, at Franklin Mills, Iowa, a daughter of Rev. Andreas Leupp and Christina (nee) Frey. Maria's parents were both born in Switzerland. Her father was a Lutheran pastor and many people in the area were baptized and confirmed by him.

Jacob and Maria were married on February 6, 1896, in New Salem, by Pastor A. Schoenhut. Witnesses at the wedding were August Wilde and Minnie Weisgusolur.

Jacob was 14 years old when his parents and nine children immigrated to the United States. They homesteaded in Oliver County near what was then Nisbet, North Dakota.

To this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters: Anna Maria (Mrs. Fred J. Albers) of Harlowton, Montana; Carl Frederick of Hannover; Fred William of Center; and Clara Elizabeth (Mrs. Orrie Jensen) of Hazen.

Jacob and Maria died at a very young age, Jacob in 1904 and Maria in 1908. After their death, the children were cared for by guardians, who were John F. Albers and his wife, Anna.
