Phyllis Jean Mitchell, 76, of Nichols, S.C., passed away, Friday, August 10, 2018 at McLeod Seacoast Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born in January 22, 1942, in Harrisonburg, Va., a daughter of the late Harry and Kitty Armentrout. On January 19, 1960 she married Sandy William Mitchell. She had worked in the cafeteria at Stafford County Public Schools for many years.

Phyllis was a loving mom and grandmother, who loved to spend her time outdoors, working in her flowers, going to the beach and boating. She also enjoyed making beautiful flower arrangements, shopping and being crafty. She lovingly took care of her pets Wally, Katie, Willie, Maria and Toby but above all, she cherished time spent with her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Allen.

She is survived by two sons, Sandy W. Mitchell Jr. and wife, Susan and Terry Wilmer Mitchell, all of Nichols; four granddaughters, Melissa Stump, Crystal Shortridge, LeeAnn Allen and April Allen; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister Mary Ellen Armentrout of Penn Laird.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Chilton McPheeters, officiating. Burial will follow in Head Waters Cemetery.
