Martha Amanda Rosaline Abeln was born March 7, 1920 in Mitchell to Otto and Martha (Titze) Sperlich. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She married Clarence Abeln on June 9, 1946. They lived in Mitchell until moving to a farm near Stickney. They had two children Gary and Sheri. She lived on this same farm until moving to the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in Corsica on February 17, 2007. She had been a member of the Zion Stickney Lutheran Church and the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband Clarence; one son, Gary Abeln of Stickney; one daughter, Sheri Schrank and husband, Terry of Corsica; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a half brother, Otto Sperlich Jr. of Minnesota; and a half sister, Pearl Ledford of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Darlene Durfey, a brother-in-law and many relatives and friends.
