John Peter Abrant was born in Sweden on
January 26, 1832 and passed away in
Frankfort, Kansas on August 1, 1910.
He came to America in 1851 at the age of
19, and settled in Burlington, Iowa, where
He was married to Miss Fredrica Anderson
in 1856. In the fall of 1870 they moved
to Kansas and located on a farm five
miles west of Frankfort, where they lived
until six weeks ago, when they moved
into town to live.
To this union ten children were born, two
girls and six boys have preceded him in
death. He leaves his wife and two sons;
and a brother.
While living in Burlington, Iowa, Mr.
Abrant helped to organize the first
Lutheran church of that city. When he
came to Kansas he was without a church
until the Presbyterian church of Frankfort
was organized, he became a charter
member of that church and remained a
active member until his death.
