James Taylor Abernathy, Jr. was buried in the Fort Sumner Cemetery, Wednesday afternoon, following funeral services held in Julian Chapel the Reverend Ira Turner conducted the services.
Mr. Abernathy was born in Vaughn March 15, 1910 and died in Hillcrest Convalecent Center, Clovis, Sunday Morning. He had been in bad health the past few years.
He moved to Fort Sumner, wit his parents, when he was young and grew up in the Fort Sumner Valley. He attended school here.
He went to work as an electrician and moved to Jan Jose, California where he made his home for many years
He is survived by three sons, Ray Abernathy of Oregon and Bruce and Dick Abernathy of Ft. Bragg, California; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. H. P. Dickerman of Fort Sumner and a brother, Frank Abernathy of Glendale, Arizona.
Pallbearers were Cecil West, Jake West, Sidney R. West, Forrest Waller, T. H .Merrill and Joe Cortese.
