Cherokee – Funeral services for Genevieve Ackerman, 88, will be at 11 AM Saturday, November 23, 1996 at the Cherokee First Baptist Church with the Rev.'s Dave Emery and Mark Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery under the direction of the Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee.
She was born September 22, 1908 at Jet, Oklahoma to Ona and Josie Belma Kephardt Cline, and died Wednesday, November 20, 1996 at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid.
She attended Jet schools. She and Edward F. Ackerman, Sr., were married September 22, 1928. They made their home in the Burlington community, moving to Cherokee in 1941. She was employed by Safeway Foods until 1968, then worked for I. G. A. Foods until she retired in 1980. She was a member of the Christian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Arrington of Cherokee, a brother, Eugene Klein of Lake Tahoe, California; three grandchildren: Teresa and husband, Dan Smith and Monty and wife, Melody Puffinbarger, both of Camargo, and Karen and husband, Scott Kuiper of Vici; eight great – grandchildren; Brandyand Dusty Smith, Rusty, Jessi and Zane Puffinbarger and Tisha, Kassie and Nicole Kuper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1973; two sons: Willard, who died as an infant, and Edward F. Jr. In 1994; three brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be given in her honor to the Edward F Ackerman, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.
