A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb 22, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard,La. for JAMES S.ABSHIRE,SR. Burial was in St Anne Cemetery in Youngsville.
Born July 1, 1949 in Lake Charles,La,James died Feb 19, 2005 in Broussard in an auto accident. James and his family moved from Lake Charles to Morgan City when he was young. He was a 1968 graduate of Morgan City High School where he was
captain of the football team and was a highly sports-oriented student. Following graduation , he was a veteran of the United States Army for 8 years. In 1977, he moved to Lafayette and resided there ever since. When James moved to Lafayette, he started in the electrical and instrumentation fieldas an apprentice. Throughout his career , he worked his way up to the highest level in that industry. He was currently working as an inspector for RCI Consultants of Houston.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janie Stansbury Abshire of Lafayette.
Sons-James S. Abshire Jr and wife Trista of Broussard, Jamison Abshire of Broussard and Ron Abshire and wife Sherie of Patterson.
Brothers-Gary Abshire of Tracy,CA, Larry Abshire of Grand Chenier and Leonard Ray Abshire of Lake Charles.
Sisters-Shirley Perry of Vinton and Olivia Mae Richard of Lake Charles.
5 grandchildren-Brooke Elise, Brennan, Ashley, R.J. and Bobby Abshire.
