Anne married Edward Roscoe Brooke (1889-1963) about 1918 in Dallas, TX.
Two children:
• Edward Roscoe "Ed" Brooke, Jr. (1919-1996)
• Letha Jane Brooke Towles (1922-2014; named for her maternal grandmother, Letha Loop McLendon).
Anne died at age 84.
********************************
Anne Brooke was my piano teacher in Dallas, TX, throughout the 1970s. She was also the pianist at East Dallas Christian Church. I remember clearly walking from school to her home at 5410 Junius St. To the left of the living room was the music room, which contained two baby grand pianos side by side. She would demonstrate the piece on her piano, and I would try to perfect it on my piano. Even in her late 70s and early 80s, she was a very accomplished pianist. She had her students perform at monthly piano recitals for parents at Whittle's music store, 2733 Oak Lawn. These were followed by the big spring recital in May for which each student wore either a suit or a formal floor-length dress. This recital was a big deal, and each student performed the most impressive piece they had mastered that year. Mrs. Brooke's star pupil was Brian Piper, who could have easily worked as a professional pianist. He was exceptionally talented and had studied with her for years. Mrs. Brooke was a strict teacher, and she instilled good discipline and an understanding of music theory in her students. I was fortunate to know her.
