PFC Freeman Everett Abbey passed away at Valley Regional Hospital on August 8, 1990 in Claremont, NH after a long illness. He was born on September 30, 1917 in Braintree, VT; the son of Roy E. And Eva (Bingham) Abbey.

He was an Army veteran of World War II serving from March 3, 1944 to January 10, 1946. He had lived in Claremont for fifty five years. He retired in 1980 from Joy Mfg Co where he worked for twenty five years as a machinist. He was a member of the Claremont Beagles Club, American Legion Post No 29, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post No 20 both in Claremont and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No 8497 in Charlestown, NH.

He married Dorothy Inez Hutchins on March 19, 1941 in Westminster, VT but were later divorced on November 7, 1967.

He married Rita J. Woodcock on July 2, 1969.

Surviving is his wife of Claremont; seven daughters Dawn Holt, Brenda Clow, Patricia Terrill, Debra Raymond, Jane Quelch, and Deanna Abbey all of Claremont, and Joanna Haselman of Midlothian, VA; two sons Dale Abbey and Everett Abbey both of Claremont; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters Esther Roy of Charlestown, NH and Arlene Beaudry of Claremont; and one brother Donald Abbey of Orange, MA.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
