Theodore Gilman Aasland "Ted" was born in Fertile, Iowa to Asleck and Julia (Everson) Aasland, both Norwegian immigrants. He had four siblings; an older sister, Amelia, an older brother, Carl, and two younger brothers; Arthur and Eddie.

Ted served during WWI as a Private in Minnesota. Co E, in the 311 Regiment of Engineers. He was stationed in Bordeaux, France during the war.

On June 15, 1921, Ted and Dora E. Ryff were united in marriage. Dora was a school teacher at the Paynesville, MN School, and Ted worked as a laborer at the same school. He later became employed in the building industry as a carpenter/builder.

Theodore "Ted" Aasland passed away on July 5th, 1954 in Koochiching County, Minnesota. He is laid to rest at Paynesville Cemetery next to his precious wife who had died one year earlier.
