He was born Oct. 23, 1919, to Ralph and Angie (Robinson) Adami on the family farm in Washburn.
He was a farmer his entire life, retiring in 1982 from active farming but remained involved in the management of the family farm until his death.
He married Dorothy Brock on Oct. 19, 1946, in Peoria and she died in 1988. Richard then married Mae Evelyn Jackson in 1998 in Olney, Ill., and she still lives at their home in Washburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Janice Adami; and two sisters, Ailene Sherman and Lorna Nordbusch.
Richard was a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II and maintained a lifelong affection for airplanes, attending numerous air shows including the Oshkosh Air Show in Wisconsin and in his younger years was an avid spelunker.
He was a member of Washburn American Legion Post No. 661, where he was past commander and attended Crow Meadow Presbyterian Church in LaRose, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Washburn American Legion Post No. 661 and Taylor Masonic Lodge No. 98 in Washington.
