Mrs. Huldah Jane Marsh Abbott, aged 76 years, 7 months, 22 days, died November 6, 1938, at her home 723 East Seventeenth avenue, after a short illness that followed a heart attack.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the Vincent Funeral home, the Rev. O.L. Gibson, pastor of First Baptist church, officiating. Interment was in Fairlawn cemetery beside the body of her husband, G.A. Abbott, whose death occurred less than a year earlier -- on February 5, 1938.
Mrs. Abbott was born in Richmond, Iowa, March 14, 1862, the daughter of Ulysses and Sarah Marsh. She was married to G.A. Abbott in Iowa City, Ia., September 13, 1880. They lived in Kolona, Ia., until coming to Pawnee in 1901. Later the pioneer family moved to Morrison, then to Stillwater in 1923.
Mrs. Abbott was a charter member of the Baptist church in Kolona, Ia., and also a charter member of the Morrison Baptist church. She joined the church when a young girl and since 1923, was affiliated with the Baptist church in Stillwater. Formerly she was active as a member of the Order of Eastern Star, having been a charter member of the Morrison chapter.
Sons and daughters of the decedent are M.L. Abbott, of Hollywood, Calif., A.M. Abbott, of Pawhuska; Mrs. A.C. Lee, Stillwater; Mrs. Clarence Williams, of Kansas City, Mo., and Clark W. Abbott, of Clinton. There are eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Brothers and sisters living are Mrs. R.S. Fry, Kolona; Mrs. Dell Dawson, Kolona, and Mrs. C.W. Dawson, Pawnee.
Bearers at the afternoon service were C.E. Donart, Earl Kennicutt, Dr. Albert E. Bulkstra, Bill Cleverdon, Howard Church, Otis Wile and Claude E. Leachman.
