Margaret Anna Maria (Detlefs) Ackerman, of Minden, Nebraska died Sunday March 17, 2013 at the Kearney County Health Services LTC in Minden, NE.

Margaret was born November 21,1924 at her parent's home north of Upland, Nebraska to Thomas Henry and Emma Wilhelmina Augusta (Hubert) Detlefs.

Margaret attended school and graduated from Upland (NE.) Public Schools. She then attended and earned her teaching certificate from The University of Nebraska at Kearney, Nebraska. After graduation she taught elementary school in Cozad and Franklin, NE. While growing up she was baptized, confirmed and played the piano for the Zion Lutheran church in Upland, NE. She and her sister (Dorothy) sang together on many occasions. She was also an active member of the Upland (NE.) Zion Lutheran, A Cappella Choir.

On August 24th, 1947 she married Raymond George Ackerman in Upland, Nebraska. She and Raymond owned and ran a dairy and farmed in the Upland, NE. area until they retired to Minden, NE. in 1998.

Margaret was an active member of Home Extension Clubs for nearly 50 years.

She also enjoyed creating beautiful ceramic pieces and painting. She worked on the Upland (NE.) History Book, various Centennial and Bi-Centennial Committees and creating the map of the Upland Cemetery, Upland, NE. She also did extensive research on the family histories for her family and Raymond's.

She and Raymond were active members of the Zion Lutheran Church in Upland, NE. and currently she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden, NE.

She enjoyed flowers and was an avid gardener for most of her life. She also enjoyed reading. She and Raymond enjoyed traveling in the United States and Canada. She loved her great grandchild, grandchildren and all family members and serving the churches and communities in which she lived. Music has always been an important part of her life. Since she has resided at KCHS LTC she has been a member of the Golden Angel Musical Group.

Survivors are: daughter, Janet Rae Ackerman Rose of Kearney, Nebraska, daughter-in-law Diane Ackerman of Buckeye, Arizona; grandchildren, Abby (Rose) Martinez and her husband, Greg of Lisle, IL., A.J. Rose and his wife, Katie of David City, Nebraska, Alex Ackerman and Jaden Ackerman of Buckeye, Arizona and great grandson, Addison Ray Martinez of Lisle, IL.

Her husband, Raymond George Ackerman; son, Clark Ackerman; parents; Tom and Emma Detlefs; sister, Dorothy and grandson Seth Adam Rose, preceded her in death.

Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, west of Macon, NE.
