William Johnson Tatum passed away on March 13, 2013, at the age of 81. He was born on January 4, 1932, to Jewett R. Tatum and Mary Alice Johnson Tatum. He received his Bachelor Degree from Indiana University, and he taught biology in Bloomington area schools.
He also was a farmer and served as a yeoman in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors are two nephews, William (Sharon) Aamoth of Solon, Ohio, and Robert (Julie) Aamoth of Oakton, Virginia, as well as two grandnephews and two grandnieces. He also is survived by his brother-in-law, Edward Yonkers of Midland, Michigan. He was predeceased by his sister, Julia Ellen Aamoth Yonkers of Midland, Michigan, as well as by one brother-in-law, H. Lyle Aamoth of Midland, Michigan.
He was a member of the Clear Creek Christian Church and also attended Sanders Pentecostal Church near Bloomington.
The family wishes to express its gratitude and appreciation to Brian and Julie Shields, as well as Michael and Peggy Shields, for the love and devotion they showed to Bill Tatum over so many years of friendship.
Funeral services for William will be held Monday, March 18, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 South Old Highway 37, with Rev. Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery, where the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
