HOOKSETT Enver J. "Bud" Silkman, 84, of Hooksett Road, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Elliot Hospital, Manchester, after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester, Conn., on Sept. 29, 1919. He graduated from Central High School in 1938 and had been a resident of Hooksett for most of his life.
An electronics technician, he retired in 1985 from Sanders Associates. He also spent 43 years with the Hooksett Fire Department, retiring with the rank of captain.
During World War II, Mr. Silkman was a sergeant in the Army Air Corps and served in the South Pacific.
Mr. Silkman was a member of F.&A.M. Jewell Lodge 94, where he served as both high priest and organist. He was also a member of the Hiram Chapter 24, the Horace Chase Council 4 and the Knights Templar Mt. Horab, Concord. He was past worthy patron of the Bethany Chapter 61 Eastern Star.
In addition, he served on the Hooksett Cemetery Commission and was a past member of the Hooksett Entertainers.
Family members include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy (Lamey) Silkman of Hooksett; three sons, Henry Silkman of Bracken, Texas, Robert Silkman of Hooksett, and Kenneth Silkman of Manchester; a daughter, Patricia Baum of Derry; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Petit Funeral Home of Pembroke handled the arrangements.
