The Stan Abraham family moved to New Salem in December of 1946 from Almont, having lived in Medora, Bismarck and Greeley, Colorado prior to that.  Stan went into partnership with Roland Richter in the New Salem Motors, an automotive and implement dealership.  Following the sale of this business, he worked as parts manager for the Oliver Corp. of Mandan for six years.  He then worked at the local Gambles Store until his retirement.

He was a member of the New Salem Lions club for twenty-five years, serving as President in 1956.  He was a Volunteer Fireman, a member of Peace United Church of Christ consistory for two terms, City Assessor, a director on the New Salem Golf Club, and a Boy Scout Leader.  Stan used his talent as a pianist to provide music for many community events.  A leader of his own dance band as a young man, he later played with numerous dance groups including "Roland and his Buddies" and Ray Heid's "Five Naturals".

A native of Houston, Minnesota, Stan was born on April 27, 1905 to Alex and Anna Benson Abraham.

Ruth was born in Columbia City, Indiana on November 26, 1907 to Otis and Etta Malone.  The family moved to North Dakota in 1908.  Ruth graduated from Almont High School and attended Bismarck Business College.  She worked as a bank teller in Dickinson before she and Stan were married.

She has been a member of and held offices in Women's Guild, Community Club, Homemakers, and Girl Scouts and she was a Den Mother and a Sunday School teacher.

Ruth was on the Exhibit Committee for the Morton County Fair during its first years when the exhibits were located in the City Auditorium.  She was one of a mothers' volunteer group which car-pooled New Salem and area children to Mandan for swimming lessons under a Red Cross program.  At the same time this group promoted funding for New Salem's own pool and later assisted the lifeguards in the operation of the pool.

Their three daughters and one son graduated from New Salem High School and attended college.  Henrietta is employed at the Bank of North Dakota.  Married to Howard Foreman, they have two children.  Tammy, married to Dwight Remmich, has two sons, Joshua and Nathaniel.  They all reside in Bismarck.  Their son, Jack lives in California.  Iris and Tom Moran have two children, Jill and Andrew, and live in Mt View, California.  Dan and Diane Starck Abraham live in Rapid City, So. Dak. where Dan is a structural engineer.  They have two children, Julie and Ryan.  Jordis and Marc Conrad live in Bismarck and have a daughter, Lee.  Jordis is Journalism Instructor at Bismarck Junior college.
