Sylvia E. Tunell, 79, Mohall, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 1991 in a Mohall Nursing Center. Her funeral will be held Thursday, Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall with burial in the Mohall Cemetery.
Officiating for the service will be Rev. Ann Fritschel, organist will be Mrs. Lila Lunde, Mrs. Luella Engebretson with special music. Casketbearers will include Ronald Wright, Ervin Hansen, Donald LaCrosse, Gene Hamel, Elmer Strand, Duane Kolbo, Gary Satran and Orville Satran.
She was born May 25, 1912 in Fairbanks Township, Renville County, rural Norma, to Paul and Christine Mahnke. She was reared there and graduated from the St. Agnes High School, Kenmare.
She married Leslie G. Tunell, Nov. 3, 1931 in Edmunds, ND. After their marriage they lived in Sherwood, Bottineau, and Seattle and in 1945 they moved to Mohall. Mr. Tunell died March 7, 1988. She had been a resident of the NC Good Samaritan Nursing Home since June of 1989.
She had been a long time employee of the American Legion Club, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was a charter member of Mohall Homemakers Club.
Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Winston (Lynette) Allen, Mohall; son, Paul F. of Roswell, MN; five grandchildren, Lori Thom, Lisa Johansen, Monica, Jeff and Keith Tunell; three great-grandchildren, Kevin and Kylie Thom, Dane Johansen; sister, Viola Mahnke, Minot.
Mrs. Tunell was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, David; brother, Sylvester; two sisters, Fern and Helen.
