George was born in Washington Twp., Indiana Co., PA, the son of Edward Adams and "Polly" Mary Kearney. He married "Zibiah" Sophia Zibiah Stear on September 9, 1874 in Indiana, Indiana Co., PA.

George and Zibiah were the parents of five children: Maggie May (Adams) Mahan, "Carrie" Elizabeth Caroline (Adams) Fleming Troxell, Zora Zibiah (Adams) Mahan, Emery Emerson Adams and George Luther Adams.

Obituary in the "Indiana Evening Gazette" (Indiana, PA), Tuesday, 28 May 1929, page 2, column 6:
"George Adams passed away Monday evening at 10:45, in the home of J. W. Mahan, of South Sixth street, Indiana.
"Death was due to complications Mr. Adams was aged 87 years and four months. He was a Civil War veteran, having served with Co. A, 78th Regiment for a period of three years and two months. He was the son of the late Jas. [sic] and Nancy Carney [sic] Adams. Mr. Adams followed the stone mason trade and also was an extensive farmer. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and a resident of Indiana for over 35 years. Prior to that time his home was in Plumville, Indiana county.
"He leaves the following children: Mrs. J. W. [sic] Mahan of West Middlesex, Pa., and G. T. [sic] Adams of Chicago, Ill.
"Funeral services will be held in his daughter's home, Mrs. J. W. Mahan, of Indiana R. D. 4, or South Sixth street, Wednesday at 2:30 p. m. Interment will be made in Greenwood Cemetery."

"GEORGE ADAMS was born near Marlin's mills, Washington township, in 1842, and was the son of Edward and Mary Adams nee Kearney. His paternal grandparents were James and Mary Adams nee Rose. Edward Adams was a general mechanic. He died in 1851, fifty-one years of age. His wife was born in 1806, and is still living. Their children were: James, m. first to Martha J. Bolvin [sic], d., and second to Elcy Lewis; Mary J., m. to Jacob Wissinger; Agnes E., m. to John Cunningham; Levi, d., m. to Catharine Walters; Sarah A., m. to George W. Stockdale; Joseph, d.; Caroline, d., m. to James B. Rankin; George, m. to Zibiah Stear; Lucinda, m. to George Hamilton; Eleanor, m. to John Dick; and Hannah, m. to J. W. Fairman. Levi was killed at Dutch Gap in the war of 1861. George was a member of company A, 78th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, three years and three months, and was wounded while thus serving. George's children were: Maggie May, Elizabeth C., and Zorah Z."
