Lydia Lettitia Humphrey, died November 9, 1956 at the Concordia, hospital. She was born June 21, 1858 at Roseville, Il., the daughter of John and Lydia Axtell.
She was married to Stephen C. Humphrey
at Lacey, Iowa, February 28, 1882. They came to Republic county in 1884.
Surviving are three sons: Marvin, of Scandia; Stephen P. of Knoxville, Tenn. and Axtell of Concordia; a daughter, Mrs. O. M. Haney of Concordia; 14 grandchildren and 33 greatgrandchildren.
Her husband, two sons: John and Clyde, and
one daughter, Mrs. Jesse Wittneyer, preceded her in death.
Burial was in the Courtland cemetery.
