Daniel E. Carbauugh, 64-year-old Hopewell man, died at Washington County Hospital yesterday morning of injuries sustained when he was struck by a car on the Western Pike last Saturday evening.
Suffering a compound skull fracture, fractures of both ankles, and mutiple cuts and bruises, he had remained on the hospital's critical list ever since the accident. He died at 8 a.m. yesterday.
State troopers who investigated the accident said Carbaugh was knocked 35 feet by a car driven by Harold Brett Morris of Bellaire, Texas. The accident occurred while Carbaugh was crossing the Western Pike at Hopewell, shortly after nine o'clock last Saturday night.
Daniel Espy Carbaugh was the son of the David R. and Maria King Carbaugh.
Surviving are: sisters, Mrs. Lillian Hose, Clear Spring; Mrs. Annie Gordon, Broadfording; brothers, Frank E. and McKinley R., Broadfording, Henry W., Hagerstown, and Obern M., Williamsport; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Norment Funeral Home here Monday at 11 a.m. by Rev. Dr. William Norment. Burial in Broadfording Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
