Margaret was the daughter of Thomas Henry and Mary Theresa (Lilly) Aaron. Her family was living in Chatsworth, IL when she traveled to Notre Dame to join the CSC order. Margaret was a cousin to CSC sisters Harriet "Sr. M. Elizabeth" Lilly (1820-1901) and Edith "Sr. M. Cecilia" Lilly (1849-1885).

Margaret's CSC date of entrance was October 22, 1877, approximately 5 months after her sister Agnes (later known as Sr. M. Cointha) entered the CSC order at Notre Dame. Like her sister, Margaret, who became known as Sr. M. Sebastian, had a 60+ year CSC career as a teacher.
