Edwin J. "Ed" Basgall, 74, La Crosse, Kansas, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Regent Park Rehabilitation & Healthcare, Wichita, Kansas.
Mr. Basgall was born February 16, 1939, in Rural Rush County, Kansas, the son of Sylvester and Florentine (Urban) Basgall. He was a 23 year resident of La Crosse, Kansas, moving from Phillipsburg, Kansas. He retired from KOCH Industries in 2001.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, the SRCA, and the NHRA.
Survivors include: two sons, Brian Basgall, and his wife, Heather, Wichita, Kansas, and Steve Basgall, and his wife, Michelle, La Crosse, Kansas; three grandchildren, Clayton Basgall, Alicia Basgall, and Casey Basgall; three brothers, Les Basgall, Victoria, Kansas, Donnie Basgall, Bison, Kansas, and Darrell Basgall, Great Bend, Kansas; and one sister, Lucretia Giesch, Salina, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Blake Basgall; and one sister, Darlene Adams.
Visitation will be Monday, July 1, 2013, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A rosary will be at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Matthew Kumi officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to the Hays Baseball Association, Hays, Kansas, or the SRCA Drag Strip, Great Bend, Kansas.
