He was born Donald James Abel, but we all knew him a Jim. Born Feb. 1st of 1960 in New Jersey to Donald Ray and Barbara Abel. He was surrounded by his 1 sister Beth Durtschi and 2 other brothers Steve and Hamilton. Second to the oldest child, he graduated from Chickasah High School in 1978 and went for a semster in Stillwater Oklahoma, still things got to tight for him and he decided to join the Navy in 1980. Did his boot camp in San Diego and was last ship to Hawaii. Did his time in the Navy as Machinist Mate 2nd Class and then moved to Austin Texas to live with his mother and younger brother Hamilton. Trying to get his life together in a new town, had went out and bought his dream car a silver corvette. Little did he know that car would bring his death early. You see I met this beautiful man on my 25th birthday on Oct. 1st of 1984. We sat and talked for hours and made a date with each other the next day. He gave me his number tease me that I wouldn't call him so we could go out. Jim got up and had to leave with his friends to go back and pick up his corvette. He invited me to go back with to go pick up his corvette, I couldn't go.I was blessed to have gotten the last hug and kiss from Jim the last person he told "Happy Birthday" too and the last one to have made a date with. And now he is gone forever for taken that dare of racing his corvette with another corvette. The other corvette had clip Jim which made he spin out of control and Jim hit a tall rock wall going 103 mph. Jim wasn't wearing a seat belt that night and bascially went thru the windshield of his car. Jim lived for about 22 mintues then passed away. When Jim left this earth I know that he took a piece of me as I have taken of him. Jim had this personality and Charsmia that he knew what he wanted and when he saw it, he couldn't take his eyes off of it. I was the lucky choosen one that night and I wouldn't change a thing except I would have held him tighter that night.
