Ruth Yawger, 98, who died November 4, 2008.

She was born in Big Sandy, Tennessee on July 20, 1910 to Isaac Newton Akers and Nancy Du Vall Akers. Her father was a veteran of the Civil War so that makes her a true daughter of the Confederacy. The Akers family moved here to McCracken and she graduated with the class of 1928 McCracken High School.

She was honored last rodeo/alumni weekend as being the oldest living member of the alumni.

She was a teacher at Happy Hollow northeast of LaCrosse and Hampton.

She married Jacob Glenn Yawger. Their children were Jacob Benjamin Yawger, Joyce Elaine Yawger and Judith Ann Yawger Hugh.

Judy survives along with daughter-in-law, Wanda Luft, four grandchildren Debra, Joyce, Michael and Stacey and four great grandchildren, T. J., Christopher, Valree and Joannah, nieces and nephews and many friends.

The funeral was held at the Hays First United Methodist Church on Monday November 10 with burial at McCracken City Cemetery, beside her husband, Glenn and her children J. B. and Joyce nearby in Yawger lots and her mother and sisters in nearby Akers lots.
