Longtime Kenai resident Betty Marjorie (Adolf) West, 67, passed away, Wednesday, Mar. 20, 2013 from cancer at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.

A celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 30, at Star of the North Lutheran Church in Kenai. Pastor Corbie Cross will officiate.

Betty was born May 15, 1945 in Newberg, Ore. She grew up and attended school in Newberg. She moved to Kenai in 1981 and began working for First Interstate Bank. She worked there until 1989. She began working for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District in 1999. Betty retired in 2007.

She was a member of Star of the North Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting with Piece Makers Quilting Group, snowmachining, four wheeling, cooking, spending time at the cabin in Caribou Hills, and spending time with family and friends.

"She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly by everyone she touched. May God bless and keep her." Her family wrote.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Rinehart and Marjorie Adolf and a brother John Adolf.

She is survived by her husband, Jim West; son, Brian Cornett and his wife, Cindy; daughter, Stacey Heilala and her husband, Matt; stepsons, Jon Layton and his wife, Lori, and Brandon West and his wife, Julie; stepdaughter, Holli West; brothers, Joe and Jim Adolf; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rather than flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be sent to American Cancer Society, 3581 Piper St., Suite U240, Anchorage, AK 99508.
