Bob Wilbur Acree, Jr. was pronounced dead on arrival at Routt County Memorial Hospital following a fall from the roof of Ski Time Square Condominiums. He landed on his head on a third floor balcony, law enforcement officers said.

Acree was allegedly climbing on the roof of the five-story building shortly before midnight on Friday, Sept. 26. With him were David Wyn and Mike Garza. The 27-year-old victim died of massive head wounds.

An 11:56 p.m. call to the Routt County Sheriff's Office reported the accident, indicating it was at 303 Ski Time Square. The message was immediately forwarded to the local police department. Officers Dennis Hensen, Jerry Lewis, Don Owens, Dave Komely and Steve Bean responded.

The dty's ambulance, manned by Peter King, Mat Newman, Gar Williams and Mike Chapman, was dispatched to the scene. It arrived, King said, about five minutes after the incident occurred.

"When we got there, Dave Wallace and Ned MacDonald were already working on the victim," King said. "Both men are paramedics. When we saw Acree, there was nothing to indicate any sign of life. Ambulance drivers, however, are not qualified to pronounce death so we continued to work on the victim until we reached the hospital."

Acree was born June 13, 1953 in Winfield, Kan. His last known address was 265 Bannock in Denver.

In 1975 he pled guilty in Routt County District Court to second degree burglary. He was sentenced to up to five years in Buena Vista. A parole from Buena Vista was granted Jan. 31, 1977.

In the meantime, he pled guilty June 14, 1976 to an escape charge from Rifle Honor Camp in Garfield County. His sentence on that charge was up to ten years. On May 16,1977 he was placed in a community residence center and paroled Dec. 23, 1977.

He broke parole May 31, 1978 when he failed to report to his probation officer.
