Maria-Benilda D. Guiao Abbott, 61, of Lexington, died at 12:43 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2007, at the Independence Regional Health Center, Independence.

Mrs. Abbott was born June 15, 1945 in Republic of the Phillipines to Teodoro C. and Leona C. (Canlas) Guiao. She married Kenneth B. Abbott of Richmond on August 15, 1970; he survives, of the home.

Mrs. Abbott worked as a development assistant at the Higginsville Habitation Center in Higginsville for 17 years where she was also a member of the Parents Association. She lived in the Henrietta and Lexington areas. She was a Catholic.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Wendy Abbott of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Evangeline Guiao Abbott of Kansas City; three brothers, Pedro David Guiao of Henrietta, Narciso David Guiao and his family of Prairie View, Texas and Ignacio David Guiao and his family of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Maria C. Guiao Rogers of Richmond; one granddaughter, Sadie Grace Abbott; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Godofredo David Guiao.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be Friday, April 27, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond.

Burial will be at Richmond Memory Gardens.

Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
