Son of Nicholas Jacob and Mary L. (Grable) Wirz. When he was 9, his parents moved to Halsey, Nebr. and homesteaded north of there. He received his education in Halsey. He worked for the U. S. Forestry Service, and various neighbors and after his marriage to Marie Rodocker, they purchased the general merchandise store in Halsey which they operated for 30 years. Mr. Wirz was also a star route mail carrier for 40 years, retiring at age 85. Mr. Wirz was active in the formation of the 4-H Camp at Halsey.
Survivors were his wife, son Bob, daughter Beverly and three sisters, Ida Anderson of Grand Island, Rosa Rumsey of Fullerton and Elsie Lucy of El Cajun, Calif. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Ted.
