Frank E. Abernathy, 63, of Springfield Township, passed away Nov. 15 1992.
Mr. Abernathy was born in Murphy, N.C., coming to Akron in 1950. He was employed by Eclat Rubber Company and 3M Corporation as a Boiler Operator. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth and is survived by one son, J. Timothy (Crystal) Abernathy of North Canton; four daughters, Sally J. Lynch of Munroe, La., Shirley Steiner of Atwater, Linda L. Thomas of Akron and Karen R. (Bill) Johnson of North Canton; two brothers, Ralph and Perry Abernathy of North Carolina, Eva Schyde of Florida, Maggie Beaver of Georgia and Ola Hughes of Georgia; 24 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 19, 1 p.m. at the Schermesser Funeral Home, Surburban South Chapel, 600 East Turkeyfoot Lake Road, with Rev. Eloy Pacheco officiating.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, one hour prior to services. Entombment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Home Care Division, Visiting Nurse Service, 1200 McArthur Drive, Akron, Ohio, 44320.
