Robert Martin Adams, 80, of Cunningham, died at 5:25 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2005, at Green Acres Nursing Home in Mayfield.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the 3rd Army 480 Medial Ambulance Division of World War II, where he helped liberate the Mauthausen concentration camp from Nazi Germany. Mr. Adams coordinated World War II 480 Ambulance Division reunions and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5409 of Bardwell. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and was a former automobile salesman. Mr. Adams was also a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving are his wife of almost 59 years, Rachel Lee (Terry) Adams, four sons, Dr. Ronnie Lee Adams of Chiang Mai, Thailand, the Rev. Terry Martin Adams of Albuquerque, N.M., William Earl "Bill" Adams of Benton and Robert Mark Adams of Brentwood, Tennessee, one sister, Reida Mae Lawrence of Lees Summit, Missouri, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marsha Adams, one son, Stanley Mills Adams and one brother, Eldon Earl Adams. His parents were Aubrey and Dorise Adams.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Bardwell with the Rev. Ray Provow officiating. Burial with military rites was in Roselawn Cemetery.
