Funeral services for Marianna (Abel) Grazaitis, age 81, of Huntington Beach, California and formerly of Sheldon, Iowa, who passed away on October 23, 2009 in Anaheim, California.
Graveside services will be at 9:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa with the Rev. Marvin Lindley officiating.

Marianna (Abel) Grazaitis, the daughter of Lester and Hilda (Rath) Abel was born on January 25, 1928 in Sheldon, Iowa.
She attended school in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1945. She also earned an M.A. in Library Science from UCLA and served as an Orange Coast College (Costa Mesa, California) professor of Library Science and a Librarian for 23 years.
She and Joseph Grazaitis were married in 1965. They resided in Huntington Beach, California for many years.
She passed away in Anaheim, California on October 23, 2009 reaching the age of 81 years, 9 months and 28 days.
Marianna was devoted to her husband, Joe; her beloved cats and enjoyed gardening, traveling in the family RV, spending the summer and fall at their Guttenberg, Iowa cottage on Abel Island with family and friends.
She also had a passion for the Spanish language and genealogy. She spent a year in Lima, Peru and was responsible for tracing her family tree to their historical roots in France and Germany.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; a niece, Barbara Ewert, and two nephews, William and Bradley Schendel; a brother-in-law, Peter Grazaitis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Hilda Abel; a brother, Robert, and sisters, Elaine Rayburn and Elynor Schendel.
