JOHN QUINTON GUMM, 88, widower of Nell (Cundiff) Gumm, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009, at his residence in Primrose, KY.
John was born July 20, 1921 in Primrose (Lee County) KY, to the late Scott and Ethel (Bennett) Gumm. He was a former employee for the Kentucky State Transportation Department, Owner/operator of the Gulf Station in Lee County, a farmer, and was a member of the New Springs United Methodist Church of Primrose.
Survivors include one son, Harold Bailey (& Judy) of Beattyville, KY; two daughters, Laveral Bailey Gumm (& Wilmer Jack) of Beattyville, KY, Patty Bailey Stewart (& George) of Easley, SC; two brothers Youles Gumm (& Hazel) of Mason, OH, and Wilmer Jack Gumm of Beattyville, KY; one sister Zelma Smith of Kenova, WV; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Along with his parent and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernie and Samuel Gumm, and two sisters, Ann Allen Abner and Elvia Jones.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 1 p.m. in the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Short and Rev. Tim Charlton officiating. Burial was in the Lucas Cemetery, Primrose, Lee County, KY.
