Dr. Augusto Perez "Tito" Abad, who once worked at Galen State Hospital, Galen, died Sept. 8. He was a psychiatrist for the Louisiana State Department of Public Safety and Corrections and Greenwell Springs Hospital at Baton Rouge, La.
Tito was a resident of Baton Rouge and native of San Nicholas, Philippines. He was a medical doctor specializing in psychiatry and member of several regional and national Filipino organizations. He was named one of 20 outstanding Filipinos in America. He was a well-regarded member of the medical staff at Galen State Hospital in the 1970s. His outgoing personality, generosity, and hospitality, gained him many friends in the Butte area.

He enjoyed traveling, gardening and yardwork.

Survivors include his wife, Rosario "Chuchi'' Rosales Abad; daughters, Raquel Abad Shaibani and Ruth Abad; sons, Andrew Abad and Augustus "Gus'' Abad; sisters, Sally Talabis, Felicidad Abadilla, Amelia Guloy, Victoria Saldivar, Gemma Serquena, Marie Calderon, Susan Allas, Ellen Mejia and Marianing Ibasco; brothers, Mariano, Manuel, Ramon and Luis Mejia; and granddaughters, Jasmine, Jordan and Jade Shaibani.

He was preceded in death by his father, Secundino Abad; and mother, Felicidad Perez Abad.

The funeral was held in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
