Ronald Lee Abernathy, 72, was a son of Orville D. and Maxine E. Coffing Abernathy. He was preceded in death by his parents. He married Judith K. Fultz on July 16, 1995 in Cayuga, Indiana. She survives.

Also survivng are a brother, Alan (Pam) Abernathy; two daughters, Hope (Steve) Carlson and Melanie (fiancé Alan Newman) Harvey; two stepdaughters, Robin (John) Bryant and Renee (Jimmie) White; grandchildren, Audrey and Ethan Carlson, Patrick Jennings and Hope Harvey; five step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Army. He became a State Farm agent in 1970 for 12 years and then started driving semis. In 1983, he became an owner/operator and leased to different companies until retiring in 2008.
