Behethelin Massie Chandler was the daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth (Massie) Chandler.

Behethelin married first to Henry Ambrose Wathen, 1765-1805, a widower, and the son of Leonard and Ann (Mattingly) Wathen of St. Mary's County, Maryland, in 1803 in Frederick County, Maryland. At the time of her first marriage Behethelin became the step-mother of: Gabriel Wathen, 1789-1867; Thomas J. Wathen, 1799-1834; Polly (Wathen) D(J)upin, 1800-xxxx; and Benedict J. Wathen, 1802-xxxx.

Hetty inherited 130 plus acres or one third of "Chandler's Purchase and Addition" in Montgomery County, Maryland and on Dec. 12, 1894 they sold this property to Elias Goley for 325 pounds, 14 shillings and nine pence. They then moved to Washington County, Kentucky in 1805 with Wilfred and Elizabeth (Chandler) Wathen. Elizabeth (Chandler) Wathen was Behethelin's younger sister and Wilfred was her husband's younger brother.

Hetty married secondly to John Jeffries, 1773-18xx, a widower and native of Fauquier County, Virginia, in Washington County, Kentucky. Their marriage bond was dated Feb. 7, 1809.

John Jeffries and Bethelin Massie (Chandler) Wathen Jeffries were the parents of at least: Behetheland (Jeffries) Abell 1811-1856; Elizabeth (Jeffries) Feaman, 1812-xxxx; and Frances (Jeffries) Board, 18xx-xxx;. Behethelin Massie (Chandler) Wathen Jeffries was either the mother of or step-mother of Jeanette (Jeffries) Wade, 18xx-xxxx and Sarah Ann "Saly"(Jeffrie) Cunningham.

She is listed as Betherlin Jeffries a 63 year old Maryland living in household #536-536, District I, the home of her step-son Benjamin (sic) Wathen.
