Lena Abel Houck, 92, of Lenoir, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Henry Harrison Abel and Lee Gentry Abel. She was a homemaker and attended West Lenoir Baptist Church and was also a member of Zion United Methodist Church. Mrs. Houck was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Wint Todd Houck; daughter, Teresa Jeanette Houck; three brothers, Clarence Abel, Hubert Abel and Bill Abel, and one sister, Zina Harris. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Arvie Houck and wife Lois of Bluff City, Tennessee; her daughter, Vivian Abee of Lenoir; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. The family received friends on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, with a brief service with Rev. Joe Parker. A graveside service was held at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Todd, North Carolina on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Jeffrey Houck officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Josh McKinney, Terry Ford, Jamey Peacock, Michael Houck, Alex Fairweather, Jerry Peacock, and Jacob Nichols. Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
