Helen Abel Long Curry, 91, of Taylorville, IL died at 7:55 pm Sunday, March 9, 2003 in Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville, IL. She was born August 28, 1911 in Taylorville, the daughter of C.O. and Luella Weiser Abel. On May 2, 1936 she married Howard Long in Taylorville and he preceded in death on August 11, 1959. She then married William Curry on September 27, 1975 and he preceded in death October 17, 1980.
Mrs. Curry was a graduate of Taylorville High School, a member of First United Methodist Church in Taylorville, United Methodist Women, Thelo Class of the church, Haselmere Chapter #221 Order of Eastern Star and was a lifetime member of P.T.A. She was a former employee of Montgomery Ward and Calloway Department Store both in Taylorville.
She is survived by a son: Howard "Whitey" Long and wife Judy of Freeport, IL; Step-son David Curry and wife Marsha of Marissa, IL. Grandchildren: Debbie Traugh and husband Rick of Lexington, KY; Dr. Molly Long of Denver, CO; Kimberly Long of Tampa, FL and William Graham of Cleveland, TN. Preceding her in death were her parents, both husbands, 1 son, Jim Long; 2 daughters, Mary Lou Murbarger and one in infancy; Step-son, Ronald Eugene Long and 1 brother.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 15, 2003 In McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville with Rev. Dr. Phil Icenogle officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am Saturday, in the funeral home
