Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, October 19, 2013, from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Pastor Byron Bruner officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Abbott was born in Oklahoma, daughter of the late Emmett and Alice Briscoe. She married Bernard B. Abbott and traveled the world with him on his assignments as a soldier. Elly gave birth to a son, David B. Abbott, who passed away before his time. She was a devout Christian and an active member of church communities across the world, and was a caring and generous friend to those in need. In addition to her parents and son, she was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Jean Vance; and a brother, Leonard Briscoe.
Survivors include Naomi and Raymond Morgan of Niceville, FL; granddaughter, Adva Tal-Or Abbott of Israel; 3 sisters: Toni Hall, June Heitner, and Amanda "Orlena" Randall; and one brother, Dayton Briscoe.
