GARY PAUL GRIFFITH

Gary Paul Griffith, the son of Royal and Florence Walrath Griffith, was born on February 1, 1952, in Inglewood, California.

He received his education in Inglewood and has always made his home in California.

At the age of 18, he was driving semis coast to coast, a privilege granted to very few at that age. At one time, he owned his own truck. For the last several years he has been hauling import cars from Los Angeles to dealers in the west coast states.

He had always been a motorcycle fan, and belonged to a club which made trips to nearby western states. Ironically, his cycle was made the year Gary was born, but it was always in tip-top condition.

He lived alone in Bellflower and on July 20, 1984, he decided to go somewhere on his bike, but did not wear his helmet. He was riding on the Long Beach Freeway in the rush hour with eight lanes of traffic and a car struck him. Gary was thrown over three lanes, landing on his head outside of the traffic. Needless to say, since that time he has spent the entire time in hospitals, convalescent homes, and in a school in Texas where they do therapy.

He died in a Long Beach Hospital in February 12, 1987.

Services were arranged by his motorcycle club and held on Tuesday, February 27, 1987 at 7:30 p.m. Following the services, the body was cremated and interred in the Inglewood Cemetery.

Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Royal Griffith of Lamed, Kansas; his mother, Florence Abbot of Anaheim, California; four half sisters in Texas, one half sister in Anaheim, California, Charlotte Webb; his grandmother, Mrs. Velma Walrath of Peterson, Iowa, as well as several aunts and uncles.
