Carol Doherty, born May 3, 1934 in Kimberly Oregon to Richard and Anna Garrett Robertson. She attended both Boardman and Pendleton High schools. She married Patrick Hugh Doherty on May 3rd, 1958. Fifty-five years later on November 28th 2013, she passed away in her home in Pilot Rock., Oregon.
From enjoying simple pleasures of a sunrise to raucous support of the many sporting events she attended, her life was anything but ordinary. She could lose herself in her oils, capturing her memories on canvas or polishing off the hardest crossword challenges-this from a life spent pouring through novel after novel. Her home was filled with family photos. Perry Mason, Jeopardy, or Wheel-of-fortune could be heard in the background, that is unless her Duke Blue-Devils were playing.
She worked, as time and circumstance dictated, outside the home as an operator and grocery clerk but preferred tending to her orphaned calves and raising her children and grandchildren. Her crowning achievements was that of being a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and touchstone for a large extended family.
Her culinary skills perfected while cooking for a large sheep operation and bourgeoning family, left little doubt as to where the holiday gatherings would be held. She always insisted that the family gather at mealtimes, set their agendas aside and break bread. This has worked to knit the fabric of our lives together.
She desired little and preferred that her home be filled with love, laughter and song.
Survivors include: Patrick Hugh Doherty, and her children; Carolyn "Andy" Sells, Catherine Doherty, Delores and Bill McLaren, Patrick "Packy" and Helen Doherty, John Doherty, Raymond and Teri Doherty, James and Kelly Doherty, Jeanne and Glenn Scott, Karen and Frank Liebschwager. Siblings: Helen, Irma, Bill, Cleta, Dick and Donna. Twenty-seven Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.
