MARY AASGAARD LEON, 64, of Chicago, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
She was executive secretary to the operations manager of Home Insurance until 1995. She was a graduate of Wright College in Chicago. She was a past Illinois PTA vice president, chairing the Year of the Child Project. She was on the 14th District Chicago Police Department Advisory Board. She was a past president of the Norwegian National League of Chicago and active in the Sons of Norway and Elks Auxiliary. Her uncle, ''Jack'' Aasgaard, was a former professor of theology at Augustana College.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Arthur; treasured grandson, Erik Aasgaard; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Leon Aasgaard; a brother, Drew Aasgaard, Rock Island; nephews, Joshua Aasgaard, New Orleans, James Aasgaard, Rapids City, and Thor and Jordan Aasgaard, Houston, Texas; and nieces, Betty Aasgaard, Henderson, Nev., Celina Leon, Chicago, Felicia Watson, San Francisco, and Linda and Sharon Reininger, Chicago. She was preceded in death by her son, Rick Leon, and brothers, Robert Aasgaard, Houston, and James Aasgaard, New Orleans.
Cremation will be local. There is no visitation. Memorial services will be held in Chicago, where further arrangements are pending.
