Mel served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged from service in May of 1957.
He spent his career driving 18-wheelers across the country, traveling to every state except two, and doing it without an accident. When his career ended as an over-the-road trucker, he drove school buses in Great Falls and Bozeman.
Mel loved anything to do with John Wayne.
He is survived by his son, a sister, and a brother. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
At his request, his urn will be buried at Fort Harrison Veteran's Cemetery.
