Dwayne was born in Willis Twp., Ward, ND, the son of Fred & Myrtle (Walker) Baker. He was known to all as "Red". He married the former Dora James on Sep 19, 1941 in Minot, ND. After the marriage he entered the Army in 1942, serving during WWII, until his discharge in Dec 1945. They moved to Minot where he was employed by Earl's Westland Station as a service attendant and also was a delivery driver. They moved back to Sawyer in 1959, where he was employed by the Sawyer Public School as a custodian for 10yrs. He was a Boy Scout committeeman, a charter member and officer of the Sawyer Lions Club, and he was a former volunteer and Fire Chief on the Sawyer Fire Dept. He was also a member of the VFW in Minot and the Last Man's Club. He is survived by his wife, Dora; sons, James L., Jerold D, and John E. Baker; daughters, Patricia Northrop, Carol Newman, Sharon Melland and Susan Melton; mother, Myrtle Baker; 18 grandchildren; 4 gr'grandchildren; brothers, James and LeRoy Baker; sister, Carol Finley; also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred; an infant son, Fredrick; and a grandson, Wade Melland.
