Cleo and her twin sister were born Dec. 8, 1927, at New Salem, to Frank and Minnie (Kalweit) Scherer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Center. Cleo graduated from Center High School in 1945 and soon afterward accepted the position of deputy auditor of Oliver County.
She married Kenneth Albers at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Nov. 30, 1947. They farmed near Center. After Cleo's children were grown, she worked at Oliver County Social Services as an eligibility worker for 27 years. She spent her retirement years living on the family farm until the last year, when she was a resident of Elm Crest Manor in New Salem. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Hannover and was active in the LWML and Lamp Lighters Bible Study.
Cleo is survived by one son, Kent Albers; one daughter, Tina Krakow; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, John and Howard Albers.
Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; two sisters, baby twin sister and Erma (Merle) Light; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Claude and Joyce Albers, Norman and Gertrude Thompson, Phyllis Albers, Bobette Cass, Jeanne Albers and Merle Light; and a nephew-in-law, Terry Luke.
