Duane Allen Rowley, 80, a third-generation Mesa native, died Feb. 6, 2009 in his home.

He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various capacities, including as branch president at Christopher Creek.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gwen; sons, Kimbal (Carol), Michael (Karen) and Kevin (Connie); daughters, Leanne McCreery and Lisa (Jeremy) Henson; sisters, Lois Shepherd, Elaine (Bill) Baker and Joanne (Bill) Adair; brothers, Arden (Ruth) Rowley and Lynn (Dawn) Tenney; stepbrothers, Blinn (Eleanor) Tenney and Jim (Annie) Tenney; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, plus two more on the way; and five step-great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Jesse Rowley; mother, Rosilla Allen Rowley Tenney and stepfather, J.H. Tenney; brother-in-law, Max Shepherd; stepsister, Marion Jones; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Vista Peaks Chapel, 1430 N. Recker Road in Mesa. A visitation will be held at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way in Mesa from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13 and again an hour before the services on Saturday. Interment will be at the Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
