Vera was daughter of Ocie & Lillie Mae (Parr) Abbott. She married Ira Don Ruby on Sept 21, 1958 in Du Quoin, Illinois. To this union 2 daughters and a son was born. Ira died in 2002 and she married John Hardy Fleming March 23, 2005 in Du Quoin, Illinois. John Fleming survives as does her children by Ira Ruby.
Vera was retired from Perry County Health Department as a WIC clerk. She was a member of Gospel Assembly Church of Du Quoin where she had served as church secretary for several years and sang in the choir.
Vera was a very sweet and kind lady, loved by all who knew her.
