Mr. John Wesley Abrams, 89, passed away on February 7, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mr. Wesley was born January 16, 1925, in Noxubee County, the son of the late Joseph Jasper and Maggie Lee Bryant Abrams. He had lived in West Point for 64 years. He was a retired machine operator at Babcock and Wilcox Corporation, having retired after 37 years. While at Babcock & Wilcox, Mr. Wesley had a large part in starting the Babcock and Wilcox Credit Union and keeping it going. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, having earned the Purple Heart. He married Thelma Moore Abrams on March 29, 1963, in Macon. He loved his Lord, His Friends, and especially His Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Preceding him in death were Two Sisters: Irene Denton and Trudy Thomas and Two Brothers: James Douglas Abrams and Willie Joe Abrams.

Funeral services will be February 10, 2014, at 10:00 AM from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Roy Myers officiating and assisted by Dr. James Towery. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include His Wife of 50 years Thelma Abrams of West Point; Two Daughters, Darleen Pearson (Johnny) of Raymond, MS, and Dale Mobarak (Greg) of Oviedo, FL; One Son, Randy Thomas of Meridian; Six Grandchildren: Beverly Wells (Chris), Shawn Thomas (Erin), David Mobarak, Mary Mobarak, Stacey Scott (Doug), and Amber Gerald (Luke) and Eight Great Grandchildren; Four Sisters, Frances Bell of Macon, Lynette Morgan of Rossville, GA, Barbara Edmondson of Louisville, and Donnie Nix of Jackson; and One Brother, Charles Abrams (Evelyn) of Columbus;

Pallbearers will be George Jolly, Ricky Boykin, Gary Moore, George Simmons, Darrell Shows, Shawn Thomas, and George Pearson.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 460 McCord Street, West Point, MS 39773.

Visitation will be Sunday 5:00-8:00 PM at Calvert Funeral Home.
